Black Clover Chapter 307 Review – The Heart of a Devil

Space brothers to the save!

Are they a duo yet? Am I getting ahead of things? And why am I going straight to them while there’s supposedly much more interesting stuff happening around? Oh well, can’t help it. Finral is back and it’s awesome to see that he decides on his own to have a showdown with a devil. I believed in him since day one! But let’s get to everything we have for today.

Following last week’s flashback, Zenon finally reveals the contract he wants to make with Beelzebub: asking for the “heart of a devil”, granted the Spade Kingdom survives his soul shall belong to the devil. Yikes.

This arc has so much already that even though I’d want to see these devils in action, I wonder if there’ll be time for it…

Yuno, who’s no dumb (except for thinking they could win with such “easiness”), feels Zenon’s aura the same like he felt when they fought Zagreb. Trying to finish him off before he gets a chance to fuck everyone up, he attacks but it’s rendered useless when Zenon traps him in a Absolute Space and literally slaughters the boy with his bone magic. Yikes x2.

This is really brutal. But I’m sure he’ll rise up and obliterate Zenon. Meanwhile, it’s refreshing to see him actually struggle in a fight. The victory will be much more epic.

Apparently, even though it was powerful enough to kill Zenon, Yuno shot the “Spirit of Euros” spear but didn’t aimed for his heart avoiding to kill Langris. But this “mistake” allowed Zenon to make a broken contract, become a devil and immensely powerful.

Moving on, Zenon aims at Langris to kill him but a “misterious” figure comes to play teleporting the young mage and saving his life! That’s right, the Black Bull’s uber Finral is here, folks!

Yes king? Yes KING!

Coming across the Spade Kingdom to save Yami, he felt both Langris and Zenon’s presence so naturally, he decided to butt in. He even thought about using Fallen Angel Flapping to take Langris away from the fight, considering his current state, but there’s no time to do it.

Since there’s no time to run away, the space brothers decide to unite forces and each one’s specialty in this fight: Langris’s Mana Zone wich grants him the ability to attack within Zenon’s Absolute Space, and Finral’s quick and precise space movement. It’s a space battle and we’re here for it.

The magical girl pose means THERE WILL BE BLOOD.

Opinion:

Zenon’s new contract with Beelzebub was revealed and as expected, it’s a power up. Though, the condition he makes is quite intriguing: what does it exactly means “if the Spade Kingdom comes alive?” Is he referring to the lives of the people within the Kingdom? Or does the Spade Kingdom has some sort of cour something else that keeps it alive? I know it’s a huge stretch, but I just got really curious about it. Him turning into a devil is honestly a bit of a too much situation. I understand this is Tabata-sensei’s way of raising the bar, but he was already overpowered using 100% devil possession. Let’s see if they can keep the fight as engaging as it was in Megucula’s case (another devil) and have his inevitable defeat to make. And please no more Gajah like situations. That left a major sour taste in a good fight.

With such an awesome design we expect great things from you, Zenon. Do not drop the ball.

Vanica and Dante were always messed up (missing you two, by the way) but here we get a chance to see to wich extent not Asta Allen’s death affected Zenon. And now that he has become a devil himself, the only way to stop him his destroying his heart, wich will result in his death.

Yuno lost again to Zenon and it’s actually sad since he made the promess to avenge the Golden Dawn squad. But at this point, we all know it’s only a matter of time until he gets some freaky power up and destroys the crap out of Zenon. This is the power up festival arc.

But while it does not happen, let’s enjoy the freaky show that this battle of space magic users is going to be. Langris is a master in using space magic to attack and Finral is precise in his movements. They complement each other pretty well in this situation. It will be interesting to see on wich degree Zenon’s space magic (his devil attribute) really is now that he has become a devil himself. It’s obvious that more people will have to come to help fight him. But who is going to help them? Fuegoleon? Or maybe Dorothy? Both are strong attack mages and Finral is a top notch support.

All in all, even though it was predictable, it was a good chapter. But what do you think about it? Thank you for reading, and do share your opinions in the comments.

Best Part: Space brothers to the charge.
